As part of a studio build, we integrated some low-resolution LED pixel art displays made by Divoom. While they have an internal battery, it doesn't last long enough for a full shoot day.
The design of the set didn't allow us to hide and route power cables, so we had to come up with a solution that would allow us to mount the displays on the wall and power them without wires.
We designed and fabricated a custom wall mount that also serves as a charging dock. We integrated a high-capacity lithium-io battery pack to keep the Divoom batteries topped off.
To make charging easy, the mount includes a power supply that connects to the display via a magnetic charging cable.
The design also placed the LED screens 2 inches off the wall which gives us a nice 3D shaddow effect.
