We use Intel NUC and other similar form-factor computers for a variety of applications, including as ingest machines for Discord, Zoom and Teams video feeds. We often have to deploy several of these kits with up to 12 computers, which can be a challenge to manage and deploy quickly and cleanly.
As a solution, we rack-mounted the NUCs in a custom 3D printed rack mount. The mount is designed to hold 4 NUCs, a KVM switch, a network switch, and a power distribution unit. The mount is designed to be mounted in a standard 19-inch rack, and has a cable management system built-in. We use a seamless multi-view KVM so all machines can be monitored, controled from a single monitor, keyboard, and mouse at the same time.
The kits are installed into SKB i-Series Fly 6U rackmount kits, which is our prefered portable rackmount kit due to the light weight, easy stacking, and ample access to the front, back and sides of the rack.
